It carries out basic surveys and monitoring focusing on granite geological evolution, peak forest landform features, geological heritage conservation and biodiversity protection, providing a solid foundation for the conservation and management of geological heritage.
Science education constitutes one of the three core pillars of UNESCO Global Geoparks. Sanqingshan UNESCO Global Geopark faithfully fulfills this mission by organizing science education lectures, research and study programs, Earth Day events and other themed activities. It spreads geoscience knowledge and advocates the philosophy of cherishing the Earth and living in harmony with nature. High-quality popular science efforts fuel the sustainable development of the geopark.
Designed based on the collision of the North China and Yangtze Plates, Sanqingshan Geological Museum takes the value of geological heirtages as its main thread. It presents the 880-million-year geological evolution of Sanqingshan, as well as local biodiversity, Taoist culture and folk customs. Integrating science, appreciation and fun, it is a major venue for science education.
