Overview of Cultural Heritage

The cultural heritage of Sanqing Mountain integrates natural landscapes with cultural heritage. Within the area, more than 100 tangible cultural relics such as palaces, government halls, pavilions, towers, ancient mountain gates, and cliff inscriptions intertwine with five intangible cultural heritages, encompassing Taoist cultural heritage and local folk customs, building a unique cultural system that combines historical depth with humanistic warmth.

As the "Taoist Architecture Open-Air Museum," the park's Taoist ancient architecture complex centers on the Sanqing Palace and is laid out according to the innate Bagua layout; The Fengmen, Zhongmiao Qianbu Gate, and Chongxu Baibu Gate form a simple and majestic ancient mountain climbing pass, with the Tianmen archway standing majestically and majesticly. Sanqing Palace was originally built in the Song Dynasty and renovated in the Ming Dynasty, using stone and wood structures, preserving classic couplets and carrying profound cultural connotations; Nearby, the Dragon and Tiger Hall's dragon-head and tiger-head stone carvings, the unique architectural design of Jiutian Yingyuan Mansion, and the Taoist relics of Yanjiao Hall each have their own charm; The cliff-topped Feixian Terrace, the intricately arranged tomb of Zhan Biyun based on the Bagua, as well as the Hanxing Pool and Tianyi Pond that align with Daoist philosophy, together witness the thousand-year flourishing and inheritance of Taoist culture on Sanqing Mountain.

Intangible cultural heritage injects vibrant vitality into the cultural heritage of Sanqing Mountain. The custom of Yushan Xiatang Wine (Celebrating Soup) carries simple hospitality and hopes for a better life; As a representative of traditional opera in northeastern Jiangxi, the Yushan Troupe's performance features passionate singing and simple acting, with traditional repertoire continuously passed down through rural festivals. Zihu Town's folk activities are distinctive: Zihu lanterns are made from colored paper to shape auspicious birds and beasts, parading through streets and alleys accompanied by the sound of gongs and drums; The Lin Family Martial Lantern is made from the dragon body cast from the ancestral halls of the Lin clan at Zihu, with a colorful basket on top and a wooden support below, integrating clan worship with dragon dance for blessings. Both are important folk activities during the Spring Festival and Lantern Festival. Originating from Qing Dynasty Quanzhou immigrants, the Zihu Minnan dialect and related customs preserve ancient phonological features. Weddings, festivals, and other customs continue Minnan traditions, blending and coexisting with local Taoist culture, forming a unique regional cultural landscape.

Today, Sanqing Mountain's cultural heritage, as a precious carrier of Taoist philosophy and local cultural heritage, is systematically protected and passed down: physical heritage continues its historical appearance and vitality through digital monitoring and traditional crafts restoration, while intangible cultural heritage is revitalized through performances, teaching, and revitalization, becoming a deeper and more moving spiritual foundation and cultural calling card beyond the natural heritage of Sanqing Mountain.
