In August 2015, Sanqing Mountain World Geopark specially invited William David, Chairman of the Board of the Canadian World Geoparks, and Gavin Brignat, Chief Executive Officer, to visit for inspection and exchange. On this occasion, both sides formally established a sister park relationship.

Stonehammer Geopark in Canada is located on the east coast of Canada and is the birthplace of Canadian geology. It was included in the Global Geoparks Network in 2010. The park's landforms are the result of plate collisions, ocean openings and closings, volcanic activity, seismic activity, glacial periods, and climate changes. The park's rocks record the evolution of life, from the initially discovered Precambrian stacked fossils to the Cambrian explosion of life, and the evolution of vertebrates and the appearance of terrestrial organisms, all of which can be found here. The park also records almost all geological events from the late Precambrian to the most recent ice age. As the beginning of Canadian geology, the park holds immense commemorative significance.
