From April 16 to 17, 2026, a delegation from Leiqiong UNESCO Global Geopark paid a field visit to Sanqingshan UNESCO Global Geopark for on-site inspection and professional exchanges. The two geoparks signed a Sister Geopark Agreement to establish a long-term cooperative partnership.

During the visit, the Leiqiong delegation toured a series of sites including the Sanqingshan Global Geopark Museum, the core area, the West Coast Boardwalk and the Sanqing Temple. They gained first-hand insights into daily park management, forest fire prevention and the development of under-forest economy in Sanqingshan. Through site visits and panel discussions, both sides shared practical experience concerning re-evaluation rectification, geological heritage conservation, facility operation and community coordination for UNESCO Global Geoparks.

To boost the exchange and presentation of geological cultures between the two regions, a joint Leiqiong Cultural & Creative Exhibition has been set up inside the Sanqingshan Global Geopark Museum. It displays distinctive cultural and creative products from Leiqiong UGGp, enriching the museum’s exhibition contents and offering visitors a more diverse visiting experience.

During the exchange, Sanqingshan UGGp and Leiqiong UGGp signed a Sister Geopark Agreement. The two parties agreed to carry out regular cooperation in geological heritage conservation, scientific research, personnel exchanges, geo-science education, data and resource sharing, publicity and promotion. They will learn from each other’s experience to jointly upgrade their management capabilities.

Both sides agreed that this exchange was pragmatic and concrete. They studied and communicated on practical work including daily Geopark management, rectification for revalidation, geo-science exhibition, and integrated culture-tourism development, reaching clear cooperation arrangements. Building on this exchange, Sanqingshan UGGp will implement all agreed cooperation initiatives, continuously optimize heritage conservation, Geopark management and public services, and advance the sustainable development of the UNESCO Global Geopark.
