Popular science materials and souvenirs make Mount Sanqing World Geopark go global

On June 20, 2016, at the International Intensive Reading Course of Geoparks held on Lesvos Island, Greece, experts and geopark workers of the World Geopark saw the vivid popular science materials and exquisite souvenirs of the Mount Sanqing World Geopark, and they expressed great interest.

This course is offered by the Lesvos Global Geopark in Greece, and its director, Professor Nicholas Zou Ruosi, is the initiator of the Global Geopark Network and currently the President of the United Nations Global Geoparks Council. The course covers the protection of geological relics, geological tourism, and sustainable development in world geological parks. It lasts for one week and will be completed on June 30th.

More than 30 experts and geopark workers from over ten countries participated in this course. Xu Kejian, PhD, School of Humanities, Economics and Management, China University of Geosciences (Beijing), deputy director and secretary-general of the Tourism Science Popularization Professional Committee of China Popular Science Writers Association, showed the participating experts popular science books, science guide maps, publicity folders and other popular science materials and souvenirs, and the experts expressed great interest.

Chairman Nicholas expressed his pleasure at seeing the materials and souvenirs of China's Global Geoparks. These materials not only increase people's understanding of China's Global Geoparks, but also reflect the good achievements of China's Global Geopark construction. Attendees from other geological parks expressed that these materials are of great reference value, and they will bring them back to their own parks for everyone to learn and showcase.
