Recently, Department of Education of Jiangxi Province announced the list of the second group of Research and Practical Education Bases for Primary and Secondary School Students in Jiangxi Province. Based on recommendations from relevant provincial departments, universities, secondary vocational schools and municipal education bureaus, 50 bases have been officially named. Among them, Sanqingshan Geological Museum has been successfully selected.

In order to implement Opinions of the Ministry of Education and Other 10 Departments on Promoting Educational Tourism for Primary and Secondary School Students and Implementation Opinions of the Department of Education of Jiangxi Province and Other 10 Departments on Promoting Educational Tourism for Primary and Secondary School Students in Jiangxi Province, and to fulfill the task of fostering virtue through education, in accordance with the Notice on the Selection of the Second Group of Research and Practical Education Bases for Primary and Secondary School Students in Jiangxi Province (Gan Jiao Ji Zi [2020] No. 35) issued by the Department of Education of Jiangxi Province, upon the recommendation of relevant provincial departments, universities, provincial regular secondary vocational schools, and municipal and district education bureaus, as well as expert review and public notice, 50 bases including Jiangxi Provincial Library are hereby named the second batch of Research and Practical Education Bases for Primary and Secondary School Students in Jiangxi Province. The list is announced as follows:

The Sanqingshan Geological Museum is located in Xikeng Yinhuwan Community, Sanqing Township, Sanqingshan UNESCO Global Geopark. The main building adopts the design concept of the collision between the Huaxia Plate and the Yangtze Plate, creating strong visual impact and highlighting the unique geological evolution of Sanqingshan. Centered on the geoheritage values of Sanqingshan UGGp, the museum fully presents the region’s biodiversity, Taoist culture and local folk customs. It is a comprehensive museum integrating science popularization, appreciation and recreation, with science education as its core function.

  The museum is equipped with ten permanent exhibition halls: Impression of Sanqing, Mysteries of the Earth, Geological Evolution, Grand Beauty of Sanqing, Granite Garden, Vast Ecology, Green Kingdom, Taoist Sacred Land, Ancient Folk Customs, and Protection and Development. It also has a dedicated popular science classroom, where geological education activities are held on a regular basis.

With the title of “Jiangxi Research and Practical Education Base for Primary and Secondary School Students”, the Sanqingshan Geological Museum will further strengthen its development in terms of instructors, courses, base construction, tour routes and safety management. The museum will optimize its reception plan, improve service quality, and establish a standardized, accountable and safety-assured operation mechanism for Educational Tourism.

It aims to become an outstanding national-level educational tourism base with orderly management, strong supporting conditions, fully implemented safety responsibilities and a positive cultural atmosphere, so as to provide students with richer and more diverse research and practical experiences.
