“The Most Beautiful Impression of the Earth” Photography & Videography Competition is a thematic science educational activity launched against the background of World Earth Day on April 22. Since its launch it has gained extensive support and attention. With the assistance of various nature reserves and relevant institutions, the organizers has innovated the content of the event, aiming to strengthen the connection between human and nature, enhance publicity coordination and science education interaction among geoparks, and showcase the achievements in the conservation and development of the geoparks. The Chinese Geoparks Network and the Tourism Geoscience and Geopark Research Committee of the Geological Society of China, together with the Geopark Science Education Center, will continue to organize the 5^th “The Most Beautiful Impression of the Earth” thematic science educational activity, which will be included in the 2^nd Asia-Pacific Geoparks Network Week. Following previous editions, this activity will present an online exhibition of photography and videography works, divided into two categories: photo group and video group. It will showcase to the public the beautiful images of China nurtured by Mother Earth, guide the public to establish the concept of “Harmonious Coexistence Between Human and Nature”, and call on and encourage more people to protect the earth.

Agenda

1. April 22 – May 5: Call for Works & Preliminary Selection

Photography and videography works related to science education are widely collected from the public and nature reserves. The organizer will conduct a preliminary review of all submissions (The entry portal will be released on the official WeChat account of the Chinese Geoparks Network).

2. April 22 – April 28: Offline Thematic Joint Exhibition

Launch the “Sister Geoparks Special Science Education Exhibition for Earth Day.”

3. April 29 – May 13: Public Voting

The public is invited to vote for the shortlisted works. The top 50 works in the photography group and top 20 works in the video group will be selected.

4. May 17 – May 21: Expert Review

Experts will evaluate the entries that passed the public voting stage. Award-winning works and outstanding organizations will be determined in accordance with the official evaluation rules.

5. May 31: Announcement of Results

The final results will be compiled and announced via official channels, including the official WeChat account of the Chinese Geoparks Network.

All photo and video entries must be submitted via email to: 540504809@qq.com.

Please include the following information in the email subject or body:

All works must be filmed within nature reserves.

Entries must not contain copyright watermarks or commercial advertisements.

Basic post‑processing (e.g., minor color adjustment, cropping) is allowed.

Digital manipulation that adds, deletes, or substantially alters original content is prohibited.

Photos should be submitted in JPG or PNG format, with EXIF metadata retained.

Authors must keep the original RAW files for verification if requested.

Videos must be in MP4 format, with a recommended resolution of 1080p or higher (except for special thematic works).

The duration should be at least 30 seconds.

Both landscape and portrait orientations are accepted.

The number of submissions per participant is unlimited.

The organizer will conduct a preliminary selection.

Each participant may display a maximum of 5 photos and 1 video on the public voting page.

Instructions

Requirements & Legal Notes

1. Entries shall feature a clear theme reflecting the unique characteristics of the nature reserve, with an emphasis on aesthetic value, science education and artistic expression. Content shall be positive and healthy.

2. Photographs and videos may be taken with professional cameras, digital cameras, mobile phones, drones, monitoring cameras, infrared or thermal imaging equipment. All forms and styles are accepted.

3. Participants must retain the original electronic files of photos and original video footage for verification and official use if required.

4. Works that have won awards in previous competitions shall not be submitted again.

5. The participant shall be solely responsible for any legal disputes involving reputation, portrait rights or copyright related to the submitted works.

6. All entries must be original. Participants shall ensure that their works do not infringe upon the copyright, portrait rights or reputation rights of any third party, nor involve confidential information.

7. In case of any dispute over infringement or ownership, the participant shall be disqualified and shall bear corresponding legal liabilities.

8. The organizer reserves the final right of interpretation for this event.

Award Description:

1. The list of winners shall be determined based on the combined scores from public voting and expert review.

2. Within the same category, if a participant or nature reserve is selected for multiple awards, only the highest-ranking award will be recognized; no cumulative awards will be granted.
