On the 52nd World Earth Day, observed on April 22 under the theme “Cherish the Earth—Harmonious Coexistence Between Humanity and Nature”, Sanqingshan UNESCO Global Geopark carried out geoscientific educational activities. The initiative aimed to promote the core principles that “Lucid Waters and Lush Mountains are Invaluable Assets” and “Harmony Between Humanity and Nature”, while encouraging public participation in the advancement of ecological civilization.
At Jinsha Visitor Square and the Sanqingshan Geological Museum, the Geopark showcased photo exhibitions from 19 different geoparks and distributed educational materials provided by its sister geoparks. Through these displays, geological knowledge was shared with tourists, research groups, and local residents, highlighting the unique geological landscapes of each park. The event helped raise awareness of the importance of World Earth Day and the role of geoparks, while also disseminating information about China’s natural resource policies and earth science. Additionally, visitors, students, and community members had the opportunity to win free tickets to the 19 participating geoparks by correctly answering on-site quiz questions.

Subsequently, the students visited the Sanqingshan Geological Museum to learn more about the formation process of Sanqingshan UGGp, its granite peak forest landscapes, earth and geological knowledge, biodiversity, culture, and ethnic customs.This helped strengthen the students’ awareness of protecting the earth, geological heritage, and our living environment.
Subsequently, the students visited the Sanqingshan Geological Museum, where they explored the formation of the Sanqingshan UGGp, its distinctive granite peak forest landscapes, geological knowledge, biodiversity, as well as local culture and ethnic traditions. This immersive experience helped foster a stronger sense of responsibility among the students toward protecting the Earth, preserving geoheritage, and safeguarding our living environment.
