Various preliminary application works go quite smoothly and Sanqingshan Global Geopark will be conducted in-situ survey and appraisal by UNESCO expert in middle June. The appraisal result will come out at the subsequent Global Geoparks Appraising Meeting to confirm whether Sanqingshan is finally honored as one of the Global Geoparks.

Sanqingshan Global Geopark officially commenced its application for Global Geoparks in 2005. In January, in the 2010 Global Geoparks Application Recommendation Meeting, Sanqingshan Global Geopark stood out from tens of units, becoming the sole application unit of China for Global Geoparks in 2012. According to application requirement, after application documents have been submitted to Ministry of Land and Resources and related national department and for review, UNESCO decides to send for expert to conduct in-situ survey and appraisal, marking the crucial stage for Sanqingshan’s application.
