On April 26-27, 2016, the 2016 China Global Geopark Annual Meeting was held at the Zhijindong Global Geopark in Guizhou Province. Yang Jing, deputy director of Mount Sanqing Management Committee, led the team to attend the annual meeting.

The theme of this annual meeting is "Towards a New Era of Global Geoparks", aiming to explore and exchange ideas on park management, protection, construction, development, and science education under the new situation of UNESCO Global Geoparks. Discussions were also held on how to leverage the unique advantages of global geoparks, focus on brand building, and enhance the sustainable development capabilities of scenic areas. At the meeting, the National Geopark Network Center summarized the construction and management of world geoparks in 2015 and arranged the deployment of key work for 2016. Two new and some geopark representatives gave experience introductions.

During the meeting, leaders of the Mount Sanqing World Geopark and the Ministry of Land and Resources reported the re evaluation work, made extensive exchanges with other parks in terms of protection and construction, publicity and promotion, and re evaluation preparations, and participated in the opening ceremony of Zhijin Cave World Geopark, "China World Geopark Tour Exhibition" and other activities held during the annual meeting.
