Protection publicity is the "spiritual bond" that conveys the concept of global geopark protection, and is also a key path to achieving the goal of "public participation and joint protection." To effectively strengthen the ideological foundation of heritage protection and widely build social consensus, Sanqingshan Global Geopark has made precise efforts and implemented diverse policies, carrying out a series of rich and effective protection publicity activities, detailed as follows:

1. Strengthen visitor publicity and build awareness of tourism protection

Sanqingshan World Geopark has reasonably laid out promotional channels within the park, building 10 science corridors and over 300 geological relic explanation boards, and providing a comprehensive intelligent guide system, allowing visitors to subtly understand the value of geological heritage and clarify its protection significance during their visit; At the same time, relying on official websites, WeChat public accounts, and other online media platforms, geological heritage protection knowledge is regularly pushed, achieving coordinated online and offline publicity to integrate protection concepts throughout the tour.

2. Deeply cultivate campus science popularization and cultivate youth protection forces

The park focuses on youth groups, promoting science education into campuses and classrooms, and taking multiple measures to sow seeds of protection. First, geological experts were organized to visit Xikeng Primary School, Zihu Middle School, Huaiyushan Central Primary School, and other schools to hold special science lectures on geological heritage protection, using vivid cases to explain the importance of heritage protection; Second, organize students to visit the Sanqing Mountain Geopark Museum, using interactive exhibits and precious rock specimens in ten themed exhibition halls to directly experience the evolution of the Earth and deeply understand the value of geological heritage conservation; Third, compiling the popular science picture book "Take You to Explore Sanqingshan Global Geopark," integrating conservation concepts with fun stories and exquisite illustrations, allowing young people to practice conservation concepts through reading; Fourth, a standardized geology classroom was established at Sanqingshan School, displaying typical rock specimens and geological structure models, providing a professional platform for students to carry out conservation practice activities. For example, on May 12, 2023, the 15th National Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Day in China, the park visited Sanqingshan School to carry out a geological disaster prevention education activity themed "Preventing Disaster Risks, Safeguarding High-Quality Development," further strengthening young people's awareness of disaster prevention and heritage protection.

3. Creating Themed Activities to Foster a Nationwide Protection Atmosphere

The park relies on important milestones to host special themed publicity activities, promoting the deep-rooted understanding of conservation concepts.

During World Earth Day, the park organizes a series of publicity activities around the core concept of 'Cherish the Earth, Harmonious Coexistence Between Humans and Nature.' In particular, during the 55th World Earth Day on April 22, 2024, and the 5th Asia-Pacific Geoparks Week, the park holds special events at the Jinsha Visitor Plaza. These include a geoscience photo exhibition to comprehensively showcase the value of geological heritage protection, a science quiz with prizes to strengthen the dissemination of conservation knowledge, a 'Cherish the Earth' signature campaign to build a nationwide consensus for protection, and a 'World Geoparks on Stamps' tourism check-in point to enhance public participation. Simultaneously, science popularization books, limited edition mascots, study passports, and other cultural and creative products are distributed to deeply instill the concept of 'cherishing the Earth and protecting geological heritage.'

During 'Cultural and Natural Heritage Day,' the park holds themed publicity activities featuring concentrated performances of intangible cultural heritage projects such as the Yushan Troupe performing arts, Zihu Lantern Festival, and He Tang Banquet. While inheriting excellent traditional culture, these activities also promote the coordinated protection of cultural and geological heritage, further expanding the scope of publicity.

4. Deepen Media Cooperation and Expand Publicity Channels

The park actively leverages the influence of mainstream media to enhance the publicity of heritage protection. In 2024, it participated in the first recording of CCTV’s large-scale cultural exploration program "Tage Xing." The program, using an innovative format of "on-site exploration, artistic creation, and cultural interpretation," relies on digital technology to build a platform that integrates ancient and modern elements, vividly narrating the story of how digital technology empowers the protection and inheritance of the Sanqing Mountain World Natural Heritage. This broadens the platform for showcasing the achievements in heritage protection and increases public attention and engagement in geological heritage conservation.

5. Conduct Legal Awareness and Warning Education to Strengthen the Concept of Protection by Law

The park uses legal awareness and warning education as a key approach to fortify the legal defense line for heritage protection. Using the nation’s first criminal case of damage to a natural site—the "Sanqing Mountain Giant Python Peak Damage Case"—as a typical example, it launched legal awareness lectures to clearly explain the legal consequences of damaging geological sites, creating a strong deterrent effect. In August 2025, it joined with relevant departments to carry out legal publicity activities on ecological and environmental protection, providing regulatory training to key groups such as scenic area hotels and homestay owners to enhance their awareness of legal protection. At the same time, it compiled the "Practical Manual for Ecological and Environmental Protection of Construction Projects" to standardize construction practices in scenic areas, preventing behaviors that could damage geological sites from the source.

6. Guiding Nationwide Participation and Building a Collaborative Conservation Force

The park adheres to the concept of "nationwide participation, co-construction and sharing," and has taken multiple measures to mobilize various sectors of society to actively participate in heritage protection. A reward-based reporting system for 'clearing the internet and protecting birds' and announcements for reward-based reporting of wildlife protection have been established, widely engaging community members and scenic area visitors as ecological protection supervisors, creating a favorable atmosphere of 'everyone participates, everyone supervises.' Creative publicity notices such as 'Strictly Prohibit Hanging on Trees' are issued, using simple, lively, and friendly language to guide visitors to practice the 'Leave No Trace in the Mountains' concept, consciously regulate their visiting behavior, reduce interference with the habitats of wild animals and plants, and jointly safeguard the ecological foundation of Sanqing Mountain's geological heritage.
