May 12, 2023 marked China’s 15th National Disaster Prevention and Reduction Day. The Sanqingshan Politics and Law Committee, together with the Bureau of Natural Resources, visited Sanqingshan School and delivered an on-campus science lecture themed Prevent Disaster Risks and Safeguard High-quality Development, focusing on geological hazard prevention.
Inside the school’s multimedia classroom, instructors gave a vivid and accessible science education lesson via various interactive approaches including exhibition board browsing, leaflet distribution, expert explanations and Q&A sessions. They elaborated on the definition and categories of geological hazards, pre-disaster warning signs as well as practical self-rescue skills.
Nearly 1,000 copies of promotional brochures and 20 display boards were distributed among teachers and students during the event. Going forward, Sanqingshan UNESCO Global Geopark will roll out a full suite of activities for the Disaster Prevention and Reduction Publicity Week. Targeting communities, schools, hospitals, government institutions, enterprises and construction sites, the park will carry out localized training on risk prevention and emergency response know-how to expand the reach of safety education, secure people’s lives and property, and underpin the high-quality development of all undertakings across the geopark.
