From May 15 to 16, 2023, the Shangrao Municipal International Biodiversity Day promotional event was co-hosted by Shangrao Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment and Sanqingshan Geopark Administrative Committe. On May 16, Cheng Wen, Director of Shangrao Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment, and Wang Qinghui, Deputy Party Secretary and Director of Sanqingshan Geopark Administrative Committee, attended and addressed the launching ceremony. The ceremony was presided over by Hu Caibiao, Second-level Researcher of the municipal ecology and environment bureau. Cheng Shuibo, Member of the Party Committee and Deputy Director of Sanqingshan Geopark Administrative Committee, alongside nearly 100 representatives from Shangrao’s ecology & environment bureau, forestry bureau, agriculture and rural affairs bureau and other relevant departments, took part in the activity.

Centered on the theme From Agreement to Action: Restoring Biodiversity – Shangrao in Action for Biodiversity Conservation, the campaign aims to showcase Shangrao’s achievements in biodiversity protection, raise public awareness of ecological preservation, mobilize the whole society into practical conservation initiatives and support the city’s civilized urban development.

Participants visited the biodiversity exhibition at Sanqingshan Geological Museum, joined manual removal of the invasive alien plant Solidago canadensis (Canada goldenrod), and conducted field surveys of fauna and flora resources in the geopark’s main areas. Moving forward, Sanqingshan UNESCO Global Geopark will capitalize on this event to advance ecological civilization development, translate the ecological value of lucid waters and lush mountains into economic gains, and contribute further to building Jiangxi as an exemplary region for a Beautiful China.
