May 12, 2024 marked China’s 16th National Disaster Prevention and Reduction Day. Ahead of the date, Sanqingshan Emergency Management Bureau teamed up with the Social Development Bureau, Natural Resources Sub-bureau, Meteorological Bureau and the 8th Geological Brigade of Jiangxi Geological Bureau to carry out an on-campus educational lecture at Sanqingshan School under the theme Everyone Prioritizes Safety, Everyone Masters Emergency Response: Improving Grassroots Disaster Prevention and Evacuation Capacity.

Inside the school’s multimedia classroom, instructors distributed promotional leaflets, explained general knowledge of geological hazards and screened relevant educational videos to deliver a vivid, easy-to-follow popular science lesson. Teachers and students gained in-depth knowledge covering the definition and classification of geological hazards, pre-disaster warning signs and practical self-rescue skills.

The activity received widespread praise from faculty and students. It strengthened their awareness of risk avoidance and capabilities for self-help and mutual rescue, fostered a positive public atmosphere for disaster prevention, mitigation and relief, and embedded disaster risk reduction concepts among participants.
