Science Popularization Education Week of Sanqingshan UGGp

In order to publicize science and enhance public science awareness, Ministry of Land and Resources and Network Center of National Geopark launched the event of Science Popularization Education Week on the theme of “Enhance Scientific Explanation and Popularize Earth Knowledge”. According to requirements and spirit of superior and by elaborate plan and through arrangement, Sanqingshan UGGp carried out the event of Science Popularization Education Week during September 23-29, 2013.

1. Implement the event of science popularization educaiton in school. During the event, we keep contract with school and organize primary students to attend Painting Exhibition and Reading Competition which respectively are themed on “my beautiful hometown-Sanqingshan” and “ save resource, protecting environment and jointly developing beautiful Sanqingshan”. Through these activities, students fully recognize the significance of protecting environment and strengthen their feelings to hometown. On September 27, we organize students to visit Fenshui Exhibition Center and listen to the explanation. Through watching fossil, pictures and video materials, students know the rocks, mineral, animals and vegetations in the park and understand the formation of Sanqingshan UGGp to be familiar with Sanqingshan .

2. Organize the event of science popularization education in core scenic area. From September 23 to September 29, we setup work stations at the entrance guard, ropeway, tourist management center, Fenshui exhibition center and all rest areas of scenic region to distribute leaflets and manuals, explaining the geological knowledge and environment protecting consciousness, understanding visitors’ favorable popularization manners to gain wider experience by questionnaires and interaction with them.
