Geoparks and education

Geoparks serve as natural outdoor classrooms, turning abstract geographical and scientific knowledge from textbooks into visible and tangible real-world scenes. They act as vital educational platforms connecting campuses with nature.

Taking unique geological heritage as teaching materials, geoparks intuitively illustrate the evolution of the Earth, the progression of life, and the formation of mountains and rivers through landscapes such as canyons, caves, fossils, volcanoes and geological sections. This allows young people to understand the relationships between geological processes, ecological environments and human activities during visits, while enhancing their scientific literacy and spirit of exploration. Meanwhile, geoparks undertake the mission of popular science education for all citizens. Through interpretive signs, science exhibition venues, research and study programs, and professional guided tours, they spread geoscience knowledge and environmental protection concepts across society. They are important bases for carrying out nature education, ecological education and patriotism education.
