From October 9 to 15, 2025, the 9th UNESCO Global Geoparks International Training Course was held in Yunyang, Chongqing. The course was organized by the Global Geoparks Network (GGN) and the UNESCO Global Geoparks Secretariat, and hosted by China University of Geosciences (Beijing) and Yunyang UNESCO Global Geopark.

Themed "UNESCO Global Geoparks: Management, Activities, and Network Cooperation," the seven-day course comprised indoor lectures and seminars as well as field investigations. Senior experts from the Global Geoparks Network, the UNESCO Global Geoparks Council, and renowned domestic Global Geoparks were invited to deliver lectures, providing in-depth instruction on core topics including strategies for geological heritage conservation and sustainable utilization, innovation in geoscience education and the development of public participation mechanisms, pathways for integrating natural resources and culture in geoparks, and key points concerning the evaluation and revalidation of Global Geoparks.

Sanqingshan Global Geopark was invited to send representatives to participate. Together with experts and scholars from Greece, France, Portugal, Brazil, Malaysia, Mongolia, and other countries, as well as representatives from multiple domestic Global Geoparks, they gathered to share and exchange experience in the operation and management of Global Geoparks. During the course, the delegation attended indoor thematic lectures and case study seminars, and joined field investigations at the Yunyang Dinosaur Fossil Site Museum and Longgang National Geopark. Yunyang is home to world-famous dinosaur fossil sites; to date, nearly 20,000 fossils have been rescued and protected, and its 150-meter-long dinosaur fossil wall is acclaimed as the "Great Wall of Dinosaur Fossils." Through on-site investigations and in-depth exchanges, the Sanqingshan delegation learned about paleontological fossil conservation experience and gained an understanding of how geoparks can contribute to local urban development.
