On June 12-13, 2019, the On-Site Exchange Conference on Popular Science Work of China's World Geoparks was held at Danxia Mountain World Geopark. The conference invited guests such as He Qingcheng, Director of the National Park Network Center, Yuan Xiaohong, Director of the Protected Areas Department of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, as well as experts from the Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences, Sun Yat-sen University, and other universities, and more than 150 representatives from China’s World Geoparks. Sanqingshan World Geopark was invited to participate.

The conference, with the theme "Leveraging the Popular Science Education Function of World Geoparks to Promote Community Sustainable Development and Practicing 'Lucid Waters and Lush Mountains are Invaluable Assets'," aimed to promote the public’s understanding of earth sciences, enhance concepts of ecological and environmental protection, fulfill the public education and popular science service responsibilities of geoparks, and support the sustainable development of geoparks.

At the exchange meeting, representatives of Sanqingshan World Geopark actively spoke, seeking advice from other attendees on issues encountered during the construction and development of Sanqingshan World Geopark. After the conference, the representatives of Sanqingshan World Geopark conducted an on-site visit to Danxia Mountain World Geopark.

Through the learning and on-site inspection at this exchange conference, the representatives of Sanqingshan World Geopark comprehensively understood the efforts and achievements Danxia Mountain World Geopark has made in popular science work, and profoundly realized that geological popular science work is an indispensable part of promoting World Geoparks and protecting Earth’s resources, and that it is a long-term and important task.
