From September 7 to 9, 2019, Sanqing Mountain World Geopark participated in the "China Geoparks" themed promotion event organized by the Directorate of Nature Reserves of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration. More than 200 representatives from provincial forestry and grassland authorities, some world geoparks and national geoparks, as well as relevant research institutes gathered at the Yanqing World Horticultural Expo to jointly discuss the development of China’s geoparks.

The event, themed "Green Waters and Mountains on the Earth, Green Initiative under the Great Wall," initiated the proposal to establish a 'Geopark Day' and showcased a series of activities including the opening ceremony of the 'China Geoparks' themed promotion, exhibitions on geoparks, a forum on geopark protection and development, and on-site visits and exchanges. These activities presented the unique charms of China’s 39 world geoparks and some national geoparks to the public, and also shared valuable experiences with geopark managers regarding the protection and conservation of geosites, geoscience popularization, management, and talent development.

At the forum on geopark protection and development, Yuan Xiaohong, Director of the Geosite and Geopark Management Division of the Directorate of Nature Reserves of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, Nicholas Zouros, Chair of the Global Geoparks Network, and Zhang Jianping, Vice Chair of the UNESCO Global Geoparks Council and Professor at China University of Geosciences (Beijing), delivered keynote speeches on the achievements and prospects of China’s geoparks, the accomplishments and challenges of the Global Geoparks Network, and the opportunities and challenges for China’s geoparks, respectively.

The delegation from Sanqing Mountain World Geopark actively participated in various sessions, supporting the proposal to establish 'Geopark Day' with practical actions.
