
Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IBCAS)
The Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IBCAS) traces its origins to the Fan Memorial Institute of Biology founded in 1928 and the Institute of Botany of the Peking Academy of Sciences established in 1929. It is the oldest comprehensive research institution dedicated to plant science in China.
Currently, IBCAS boasts 2 National Key Laboratories, namely the National Key Laboratory of Plant Diversity and Featured Economic Crops, and the National Key Laboratory of Efficient Design and Utilization of Forage Germplasm. It has 7 in-institute research and support units, 8 field stations, as well as the Plant Science Data Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Sino Biodiversity Observation Network (Sino BON), the Public Technology Center, and the Biology Sub-Center of the Chinese Ecosystem Research Network (CERN). Meanwhile, it houses the largest herbarium in Asia - the National Plant Specimen Resource Center.
