It is the month of May, and the season when the rhododendrons in Sanqingshan are in full bloom. With the high-altitude rhododendrons as the main attraction, visiting the unique peaks and the sea of clouds, experiencing the local folk customs, has become the main tourism theme of Sanqingshan in May.

  The 2013 Sanqingshan International High Mountain Rhododendron Cultural Tourism Series will be held from May 19th to May 23rd this year. Since its launch, the event has received enthusiastic support from tourists. They travel according to the flower bloom schedules and enjoy the pure natural beauty of Sanqingshan amid the profusion of colors. 
  Sanqingshan has 12 species of high-altitude rhododendrons belonging to 6 genera. The most well-known one is the Monkey Head Rhododendron, which has very large, bright flowers and is mostly found as clustered shrubs and trees, distributed in a stepped pattern at the foot of slopes and in shrub thickets above an altitude of 1000 meters, mainly concentrated in the Rhododendron Forest in Nanqing Garden.
