On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the founding of UNESCO and the 30th anniversary of China's accession to the World Heritage Convention, 23 international youth volunteers from 8 countries and regions, including the United Kingdom, France, Spain, and South Korea, recently walked into Xikeng Primary School, a Mount Sanqing heritage site, to carry out the second leg of the three clean ups of international volunteers for world heritage sites.

 
Volunteers in schools spread knowledge about world heritage and heritage conservation to students at heritage sites through lively interactive games and paintings by Patrimonito, a young guardian of world heritage sites. This cultivates students' sense of responsibility and mission towards world heritage, and instills a deep-rooted awareness of conservation in the hearts of young people.

It is reported that the image of the World Heritage Youth Defender, "Paterimonito," was born in 1995 at the first World Heritage Youth Forum held in Bergen, Norway. At that time, some Spanish speaking students created a recognizable character based on the World Heritage logo. Paterimonito "means" small heritage "in Spanish, and this character represents the World Heritage Youth Defender. (Jiang Danping)
