Dendrobium officinale Kimura et Migo, also known as Black Joint Grass or Yunnan Iron Dendrobium, is a perennial epiphytic herb of the Orchidaceae family. Its stems are upright and cylindrical, 9–35 cm long and 2–4 mm thick. Sepals and petals are yellowish-green, similar in shape, oblong-lanceolate, about 1.8 cm long and 4–5 mm wide; flowering period is from March to June. The stem is used medicinally as a yin-tonic herb, benefiting the stomach, promoting fluid production, nourishing yin and clearing heat. Sanqingshan, located in the heart of the Huaiyu Mountains, features a well-preserved forest ecosystem and a mild, humid climate, providing a uniquely favorable natural environment for Dendrobium officinale.
