Yandangshan UGGp, China
On March 15, 2019, Sanqingshan UGGp conducted an inspection and exchange visit to Yandangshan UGGp, on the occasion of which the two geoparks officially established a sister geopark relationship.
Yandangshan UGGp is located in Leqing City, Yongjia County and Wenling City, Zhejiang Province, China. It is 300 kilometers away from Hangzhou and 70 kilometers away from Wenzhou. The Geopark covers a total area of 294.6k m2, including the main Geopark, Eastern District and Western District. The main Geopark is Lingfeng Peak, Sanzhe Waterfall, Lingyan Rock, Dalongqiu, Shiliang Cave of Western Yanhu Lake, Xiansheng Gate, Xianqiao-Longhu, Yangjiao Cave and other scenic areas. Fangshan and Changyudongtian are in the Eastern District, and Nanxi River is in the Western District.
Yandangshan UGGp is a typical representative of Cretaceous volcanoes in the giant volcanic (rock) belt on the continental margin of Asia. It is a natural museum for studying rhyolitic volcanic rocks. It is a typical example of volcanic eruption and revival in Late Mesozoic Europe, which can be regarded as a complete model of volcanic evolution and revival in the late Mesozoic Era. It can be regarded as a model of volcanic collapse in the late Mesozoic Era.
