Dali Mount Cangshan UGGp

On April 1, 2021, Dali Mount Cangshan UGGp visited Sanqingshan UGGp for investigation and exchange. During the visit, the two geoparks signed a friendly cooperation agreement and officially concluded as sister geoparks. The two sides will conduct in-depth exchanges and cooperation in geological heritage management, science education, tourism promotion, information construction and sustainable development, so as to realize resource sharing and promote the common development of the geoparks.

Dali Mount Cangshan UGGp is located in Dali Prefecture, Yunnan Province, China. It is composed of Cangshan geological and geomorphic landscape area, lake surrounding cultural landscape area and plateau lake landscape area. It became a member of GGN in 2014. The geological heritages of the Geopark are unique. The most representative is the Quaternary glacier landform 15000 years ago, which is the named place of "Dali Ice Age"; The metamorphic rock series formed by complex geological transformation of rocks about 2 billion years ago is the "textbook" of metamorphic rocks and the naming place of "Marble" in China. Erhai Lake, a plateau faulted lake formed with the uplift of Cangshan by Himalayan orogeny, as well as rock island and lakeside wetland with the geomorphic characteristics of Erhai Lake erosion.
