From September 23 to 24, 2024, the 2024 Annual Conference of China UNESCO Global Geoparks and the 20th Anniversary Symposium of the Global Geoparks Network was held at Xingyi UGGp in Guizhou Province. Sanqingshan UGGp attended the event, gathering with more than 150 guests including representatives and experts from 47 UNESCO Global Geoparks nationwide for exchanges.
Under the theme "Inheriting Geological Charm, Writing a New Chapter for 20 Years", experts reviewed the 20-year development achievements of China's UNESCO Global Geoparks, as well as key points in geological heritage protection and evaluation. Participants held in-depth discussions on the construction and development of geoparks. Relevant chronicles, albums, and the Xingyi Declaration were released. It was confirmed that the 2025 annual conference will be hosted by Wugongshan UGGp in Jiangxi Province, with the conference flag handover completed.
The Sanqingshan delegation participated in all important agenda items, actively exchanged and discussed with peers and experts, and shared its practical achievements in geological heritage conservation, operation and management, and integration of science education and tourism. Meanwhile, it learned advanced practices and valuable experience from other geoparks in revalidation preparation, community collaborative development, and geological heritage protection, clarifying the direction and accumulating references for the geopark’s high-quality development.
