The 8th UNESCO Global Geoparks Congress was held from September 11 to 14, 2018, at the Adamello-Brenta Global Geopark in the province of Trentino, Italy, with more than 850 representatives from 65 countries attending. Representatives from Sanqingshan Global Geopark attended the meeting.

The conference officially opened at 9:00 a.m. local time on September 11. Italian President Sergio Mattarella sent a congratulatory message, along with Mr. Patrick McKeever, Director of UNESCO's Earth Science and Geopark Program; Professor Nickolaos Zouros, Chairman of the UNESCO Global Geoparks Network Executive Board; Dr. Joseph Mase, Chairman of the Adamello-Brenta Global Geopark, Mr. Vannia Gava, Deputy Minister of Italy's Ministry of Territorial and Marine Environment Protection, attended the meeting and delivered a speech.

The theme of this year's conference was "Geoparks and Sustainable Development," and representatives from global geoparks engaged in extensive exchanges and exchanges around this topic. During the conference, ceremonies for new member certificates, re-assessment certificates, and the World Geoparks Network awards ceremony were also held.

The Sanqingshan Global Geopark delegation attended the meeting agenda attentively and actively communicated and exchanged ideas with experts related to the Global Geopark. The delegation also showcased the beauty and construction achievements of Sanqingshan Global Geopark to the world through booths and distribution of promotional materials, attracting widespread attention.
