On October 10-11, 2019, the 2019 China UNESCO Global Geoparks Annual Conference was held in Dunhuang City, Gansu Province. Attendees included Liu Yuan, Inspector of the Department of Nature Reserves Management of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, He Qingcheng, Executive Director of the National Geopark Network Center, as well as representatives from relevant provincial and municipal forestry and grassland bureaus and China’s UNESCO Global Geoparks. Sanqing Mountain Global Geopark sent representatives to attend the conference.
During the conference, Director He Qingcheng summarized the work from 2018 to 2019. Each geopark discussed sustainable development of the parks and conducted field inspections of geological sites such as the Mogao Caves, Crescent Lake, Yumenguan Pass, and the Yadan formations. At the closing ceremony, Dunhuang Global Geopark and Qinling Zhongnan Mountain Global Geopark held a sister park signing ceremony and handed over the annual conference flag to the organizer of the next annual conference — Sichuan Guangwu Mountain-Nuoshui River Global Geopark.
