On December 7, 2022, the 2022 China UNESCO Global Geopark Annual Conference was held in Xiangxi Prefecture, Hunan Province. Due to the impact of the pandemic, this year's conference was held in a hybrid format combining online and offline participation, with the main venue located at Xiangxi Global Geopark. Sanqing Mountain Global Geopark was invited to participate in this grand event, joining 41 other Chinese Global Geoparks, 7 candidate geoparks, and industry experts and scholars from across the country both online and offline to discuss the construction and development of global geoparks under the new circumstances.

The conference was guided by the Department of National Nature Reserves Management of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration and jointly organized by the Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences and Xiangxi Global Geopark, among others, with the theme "Construction and Development of Global Geoparks under the New Situation." Nearly 200 representatives attended to exchange ideas. During the conference, industry experts interpreted the core points of UNESCO Global Geopark evaluation and re-evaluation, and reported on the annual progress of China’s Global Geoparks. Geoparks such as Xiangxi, Shilin, and Danxia Mountain shared their practical experiences in scientific research and popular science, regional sustainable development, and park management and construction, while candidate geoparks like Longyan reported on their application and creation processes. The conference also confirmed that the 2023 China UNESCO Global Geopark Annual Conference will be hosted by Yimengshan Global Geopark and completed the handover of the conference flag.

Sanqing Mountain Global Geopark participated in all the agenda items of the conference, studied the latest evaluation rules and industry best practices of global geoparks online, and gained an in-depth understanding of the frontier directions of geopark construction and development. Through this exchange, Sanqing Mountain further absorbed valuable practical experiences from various regions in geological heritage protection, science popularization system construction, and sustainable development, which provided new ideas for the park’s standardized management, preparation for evaluation and inspection, and high-quality development, while also deepening exchanges and collaboration with other geoparks across the country.
