Introduction to Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics
Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics (JUFE) is a university cobuilt by the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Education, and the People’s Government of Jiangxi Province. It is a leading institution of higher learning in finance and economics, with economics and management as its core disciplines, and coordinated development across law, engineering, literature, science, agriculture, education, philosophy, history, and art.
On February 6, 2008, Wen Jiabao, then Premier of the State Council, spent Chinese New Year’s Eve with faculty and students of the university and praised: “Your university is an excellent one.”
The JUFE traces its origins to Jiangxi Provincial Commercial School, founded in 1923, and was officially renamed Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics in 1996. Located in Nanchang, it has four campuses: Jiaoqiao, Mailu, Fenglin, and Qingshan. Its library holds a collection of 17.81 million volumes.
The JUFE currently runs 19 academic schools, 4 administrative colleges, and 1 independent college, offering 54 undergraduate majors. It hosts 7 postdoctoral research centers, 9 firstlevel doctoral programs, 16 firstlevel master’s programs, and 22 professional master’s programs. It has more than 2,300 faculty and staff members, and over 35,900 fulltime students.
