In 2018, the Sanqing Mountain Geopark Management Committee issued the "Sanqing Mountain World Geopark Plan (2018–2030)" (hereinafter referred to as the "Plan"), outlining an overall blueprint for the park's high-quality and sustainable development. The Plan systematically defines key tasks for the near term, mid-term, and long-term, covering key areas such as planning background and scope, protection of geological relics, protection of natural and cultural heritage, resource and environmental protection, park management, scientific research, construction of interpretation systems, popular science education, development of geoscience tourism, informatization construction, infrastructure and tourism development, community development, key projects and funding guarantees, and sustainable development strategies.
The overall development approach established in the Plan is: travel up the mountain, live at the foot of the mountain; travel in parks, live in the city; Mountain views, park leisure, and town entertainment. Relying on the park's unique geological and ecological resources, it will leverage the surrounding towns' supporting services and convenient transportation advantages, promote resource complementarity, functional linkage, and comprehensive coordination, allowing domestic and international visitors to share the geological wonders and natural ecological beauty of Sanqing Mountain. Focusing on improving service quality across the entire chain of "dining, accommodation, transportation, sightseeing, entertainment, and shopping," the city actively cultivates new tourism formats such as cultural experiences, business exhibitions, leisure vacations, wellness travel, emotional study tours, and scientific expeditions, continuously enriching the supply of tourism products.
The overall goal set forth in the Plan is: to take an international perspective and build Sanqing Mountain into a world-renowned mountain scenic area, a world-class tourism and leisure vacation destination, and a base for popular science education for all. It will also be established as a demonstration zone for strict protection and scientific utilization of geological relics and ecological environments, creating a model of harmonious coexistence between humans and nature. By 2025, the goal is to reach an annual tourism reception capacity of 3 million people, annual ticket revenue to exceed 300 million yuan, and double the income of community residents compared to 2015; By 2030, the number of tourists, ticket revenue, and community residents' income will double compared to 2025, comprehensively driving high-quality economic development in parks and surrounding areas.
