On October 20, 2015, the Symposium Commemorating the 30th Anniversary of China’s World Heritage, the 70th Anniversary of UNESCO and the Establishment of a National Park System was solemnly held in Chengjiang. At the invitation of the World Natural Heritage Protection Research Center of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of China, Sanqingshan World Heritage Site sent representatives to attend the event. Together with more than 150 experts and scholars from home and abroad, they gathered to review, share and discuss past experience and look forward to future development directions.
On October 13, 2015, representatives from 18 world and national geoparks across the country, along with representatives from the Ministry of Land and Resources and experts and scholars, gathered in Golmud to attend the 2015 World Geopark Application and Re-evaluation Seminar and the Western Region World Geopark Sustainable Development Seminar. The purpose was to summarize and exchange experiences in geopark protection, construction, and management, and to jointly enhance the capacity for sustainable development of geoparks. Sanqingshan World Geopark will undergo its first world geopark re-evaluation in 2016, and a representative was specially sent to participate in this seminar to learn from the management experiences of other geoparks.
In September 2015, Sanqingshan UGGp attended the 4th Asia Pacific Geoparks Symposium held at San'in Kaigan UGGp in Japan, and took an active part in delivering speeches at the conference.
In April 2015, Sanqingshan UGGp attended the 2015 Annual Conference of China UNESCO Global Geoparks, which was held at Cangshan UGGp in Dali, China.
From September 18 to 22, the 6th World Geopark Conference was held at the St. John Hammer World Geopark in Canada, with the theme "Strengthening Connections – Connecting People and the Earth in a Way That Matters to Humanity." More than 400 representatives from 74 World Geoparks in 33 countries attended the conference. Yan Guozhong, a member of the Party Committee of the Sanqing Mountain Scenic Area, and Zeng Xilai from the Geopark Management Bureau participated in the entire agenda of the conference. The conference included meetings of the Executive Board members, keynote speeches, thematic speeches, a UNESCO briefing and park voting for joining the World Geopark Network, inspections during the conference, poster presentations, a seminar on Chinese World Geoparks, and an exhibition celebrating the 10th anniversary of Chinese World Geoparks. It was the conference with the largest number of participants and the biggest scale in the history of the World Geopark Conferences.
On September 10-11, the 29th Annual Conference of the Tourism Geoscience and Geoparks Research Committee of the Geological Society of China, together with the Symposium on the Construction and Tourism Development of Yanqing UGGp, was held in Yanqing. More than 200 delegates and distinguished guests from 27 provinces, municipalities directly under the Central Government, as well as Hong Kong and Taiwan gathered at Yanqing UGGp of China, holding high-level dialogues on the construction and management of global geoparks, tourism geoscience research and tourism development.
